Job change

I've started a new post yesterday. I've been hired for a month, to work in a Stroke Unit. Alhamdulillah.
So out of my apron, into my doc uniform.

1st day at work.

Wow I arrived 10minutes before 9am, with 2 buses to get to work, I was still early.
The things I hate on the first day working.......

1)getting my bleep (pager), when to switch board (bilik operator) 'No we don't have the doctor by that name...Why don't you contact medical personnel'. I couldn't be bothered, I worked here over the last 3 years, I know whom I should see. Went to her office, duhhhh 910am still not arrived. Fortunately, the consultant secretary was helpful. So, my first almost half and hour wasted. Have they forgotten that I'm paid by the hours, I don't want to get gaji buta here.

2) sorting my on-calls out. Glad I did this earlier, before I start my job. So that's in order.

3) getting to know the ward. Sure enough I am fimiliar with the hospital, but every ward is unique. "Welcome to Stroke Unit. These 2 bays are acute, these 2 bays are rehab". Ward round with the neurologist in 15 minutes. Darn, I don't know any of these patients. Fortunately my fellow SHO willing to stay for a while despite she was on call. So the round lasted until 12. With MRIs to order yada yada yada......... jobs jobs more jobs..... I felt like to call it a quit. But, pantang menyerah kalah......... Lunchtime meeting, free lunch and freebies.... case discussion was interesting, but I felt I wasted enough time, as I could have done lot more in the ward, and get home about 5 to fetch the kids from the sitter.

I tried finish every task as fast as I could. At 445 I have to certify a patient who had deceased earlier. And then more things to finish, investigations to order. Finally despite all that, managed to get home before 7, and had dinner by 8. Makan apa? I bought 1kg of lamb, and made lamp soup all of the 1kg on the day before, it should last atleast until tonight.

And fell asleep while watching CSI!
What a day.
