One step forward part 2

As I've mentioned in my earlier entry, I am now doing a course in palliative care.

The course was offically launched on the 7th April, eventhough the 'introductory' and receiving the course materials was on the 20th march. And I should have done, atleast 2 modules by the official launch date. But I didn't. Most of the participants of the course didn't. Maybe one or two did. It's not that easy juggling between trying to study and working 9-5.

So, here I am tonight, after flipping through my course handbook, and after reading some of my fellow bloggers' sites, I decided to do some literature search. I haven't done this for ages. With the sounds of snoring on my left and right sides, I explored the net.

After typing 'palliative care, spiritual', 340 articles were listed. Many of those that I can't download freely from the net. If I need to spend atleast USD40 per article, by the end of the day, kopak la poket makcik. Perhaps I'll ask my better half if he has any way of getting those articles for me. I have shortlisted a few and send the abstracts to my email. Those that are available free of charge, I will get them printed, as soon as I install the printer programme into my laptop! (this baby I used for email and instant messaging only , until recently. Usually if I need to print something, I just belasah my hubby's mini mac, but now he carries his MM every where he goes, there's no chance for me to do so anymore).

A pat on my shoulder, for still having the skill of academic paper search.*pat pat*

Another part of the assignment, is to get a patient for the case study/portfolio. I got mine. Dear old lady, who had a fall, broke her femur (tulang peha) and then was given too much opiod and too much fluid. Only to find out then that she had damaged her lungs from the rheumatoid arthritis medication she has been taking for ages. On top of that, she was unfortunate to get a stroke that has affected her left side. Imagine all the ordeals she has gone through. I hope I can make a good presentation of the case, and able to put it into the theme as per palliative care puts it.

I'm still awake at 0118 hours. Ni sure effects of drinking too much 'teh tarik' during dinner. I'd better doze off. Today, it's 12th already, gonna be a long day for me. I'm working until 9pm. Upon waking up, for breakfast, 'kopi kasi keras sikit ye kak!' Who's gonna make the coffee? This face jugak la nanti......
